Antique Rugs
An antique rug carries something no new piece can: time itself, worked into the colour. Dyes soften, silk develops depth, and the surface takes on the patina only decades of light can give. Our antique pieces are selected for exactly this quality, and presented with honest condition reports at our showroom in Sultanahmet, Istanbul.

One of one
Every antique rug is unrepeatable. The weaver, the dye lot, the years of use that softened it, none of it can be reproduced. When a piece leaves the archive, there is no second one behind it.

Documented character
For each antique piece we explain what we know of its origin and age, show its condition openly, front, back and edges, and put it in writing. Collectors deserve the whole story, not a sales version of it.

Questions, answered
What counts as an antique rug?+
In the trade, pieces of significant age, generally several decades to a century or more, with original character intact. What matters as much as age is honesty: original dyes, untouched pile where possible, and a clear account of the piece's condition, which we give for every rug in the archive.
Are antique rugs a good investment?+
Fine antique pieces are scarce by definition; no more are being made. Even so, we do not sell rugs as financial investments and make no promises about future value. We advise collectors honestly on each rug's merits and condition, and we recommend buying for love of the piece.
Do you restore antique pieces?+
We believe age should be visible. Where a piece needs conservation we say so openly, and we never present restored work as untouched. Patina, the soft deepened colour that only time gives, is the point, not a flaw.
