Sultanahmet · Istanbul
On Divanyolu Street, the road the Ottoman sultans once walked, Yurdan Carpet keeps a private archive of the finest handwoven carpets in Istanbul. Genuine Hereke silk, Persian Isfahan, antique cocoon silk and museum-grade wool pieces, each chosen one by one, each available by private inquiry.
Our gallery is at Divanyolu Cd. No:16, between the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern. If you are visiting Sultanahmet, we are already on your route.
No machine-made pieces, ever. We show you the knots, the natural dyes and the silk under light, and every carpet leaves the shop with its provenance explained.
Choose your carpet in the shop or online; we handle packaging, customs and insured shipping to your door, anywhere in the world.
Step in from Divanyolu, sit down for Turkish tea and tell us what drew you in. We unroll pieces one by one on the floor in front of you: Hereke silk, Turkish and Persian workshop carpets, antique cocoon silk, fine wool and flat-woven kilims. There is no script and no pressure; most guests leave knowing more about carpets than when they arrived, whether they buy or not.
Before any talk of price, we turn the carpet over. On the back you can read the knot structure: every knot tied by hand, slightly irregular in the way only human hands are. We show you how real silk shifts colour as you walk around it and brush the pile against its direction, something synthetic imitations cannot do, and how natural dyes age into depth instead of fading flat.
Every piece is available by private inquiry. Ask about any carpet in the shop or online, and we explain its origin, material, age and condition before we talk about price. If you are abroad, we send detailed photos, videos and measurements over WhatsApp, so you can decide calmly and in your own time.
You do not carry anything. We pack each piece professionally, insure it for its full value and ship door to door with tracking, handling the customs paperwork on our side. Read more about our shipping and delivery process.
Explore the archive by type: Hereke silk carpets, handwoven silk carpets, Turkish carpets and rugs, antique rugs and traditional Turkish kilims.
